HELP! Lost something on my computer.

The longer you wait to unerase, the less your chances of recovery.

Lessons to learn:
ALWAYS backup before a major upgrade
Keep important files on floppy, CD, USB stick, etc., in addition to in My Documents
Don’t trust Windows (or any OS, really) to do your work for you (or even to do its own work for itself…)

madd87, I’ll try that…

www.versiontracker.com

search for unerase
if nothing pops up, try undelete

Did you happen to click yes to the little popup box during your upgrade that asked whether you’d like to backup your old operating system/registry on to your harddrive?..if not, it deletes them…which is definately not fun

oh and take tanonev’s advice…go to the store and buy a USB stick ASAP…you’ll learn to love it

Okay, not to be the mom, but HARD COPIES!!! I taught my Ds to always always always make a hard copy after any major draft…

I really hope you find the document…we do apples, but does windows have like a cache thing…open each document one by one, maybe it got put somewhere else…
