Help me create a balanced schedule for test outs!

Ok, this summer I’m testing out of precalc and physics. I have the text books in hand and I am fine with selfstudying. I also have a review guide for both of the exams. I just need a type of schedule to keep me on track throughout the summer and actually finish all of the material before the exam date, Aug. 4. There are 14 chapters in precalc with around 9 sections per chapter. And I think there’s around 17 in the physics one. Please help me create a schedule to keep me on track during the summer. I am not busy at all so there will be time for studying.

Why are you testing out?

@bloodythunder I know this sounds greedy, and may be a bad choice, but I want my junior year to have more challenging classes.

Honestly I would go a chapter a day and build in a few days off. Make sure to schedule review time as well!

Um, if you are so bright to self-study those subjects on your own, why not make up your own schedule?

The only advice would be to plan to be completely done, including a final review, at least one week before the exam.

For Physics…17 chapters or sections per chapter?

Counting today, you have 41 days (1 month and 11 days, including weekends) till August 4.
Using the final week for review, you have 34 days, just barely over a month for two subjects. For both subjects, you have 17 days each to study. For Precalc, with a chapter a day, you should have about three days for practice, tests or whatever you need to do. For physics you will be cutting it close- a chapter per day.

My recommendation, if you choose to do this, is to start Precalc first- the trigonometry in it will be needed for Physics. Review Precalc every single day, especially since its so heavily integrated in Physics. You have a slight advantage, since most people take Precalc and physics concurrently.

For physics, you need to fully understand the concepts in such a short timeframe. If you don’t understand the concepts then it will be a real struggle to get the correct answers.
Working hard, you should finish a chapter in a few hours. Plan breaks throughout the day so that you don’t get burned out. Watch videos online for extra reenforcement of the material.

And most importantly…don’t slack!

Good luck!

@TheSlacker16 Thanks so much! So you’re saying that I should complete 1 chapter per day for precalc and then when finished I should start Physics? Not to do them simultaneously? Love the username by the way!

Thanks haha
You can do them simultaneously if you like, but it might make it more difficult to understand the topics. I assume in school you would be taking these classes at the same time (like I did) so you can do that, but I find it easier to learn the math first before applying it to science, so that you can see how the math relates to it automatically instead of piecing it one by one. Physics is applied math, of course.
For PreCalc you can adjust my timing if you would like and use the “extra” three days to learn the material better rather than review, or keep them in case something comes up.
In any case, let me know how it goes! B-)
