Help me decide? (UCLA, UCB, CU-Boulder)

I am currently a finalist for a full-ride scholarship at University of Colorado at Boulder. I believe I have a strong chance in winning the scholarship.
If I do get the full scholarship and get into UCLA and UC Berkeley, I wouldn’t know what to choose because I really want to attend UCLA or UC Berkeley.

The downside of the scholarship is that I have to stay in the Business field (which is my intended major, but still sorta iffy about it).

As for UCLA, I would be Undecided and for UCB Undecided/Pre-Business… (I would need to take out loans)

What would you choose?

UCLA and UCB are so much more prestigious than CU Boulder. If given the chance, take UCLA or UCB.

That’s the thing setting me back too. The fact that UCB and UCLA are more well-known and more prestigious. But the dang price D; haha.

I think you should wait and see how much more UCB/UCLA would cost. If you wont go into too much debt over the UCs I would pick one of those. But no college is worth like 100k in debt.

If you’re good enough to a full-ride at CU, you’ll probably get good grades there. If the UCs are too expensive, a high GPA at CU will definitely serve you well.

But the problem is I’m still not sure about majoring in Business. I might want to change my major and I can’ do that if I take the full ride.

you would have to be crazy to pay 120k in out of state tuition for an overcrowded UC campus with slashed budgets…when you can study for free.

If you aren’t sure about studying business, so what? Change majors and pay. Get a high GPA and then go to UC’s for grad school.

If you’re not sure about business, go to UCLA. If it’s too much, then CU Boulder.

So UCLA and Cal are your first priorities, and if the cost doesn’t work out, then just go to Boulder.

BTW, UCLA doesn’t have an undergrad business major/program, so that may change things for you.

Do you have ANY idea how much money $120k is?
Graduating with that kind of debt is kissing grad school, medical school, law school goodbye. It will take 20 years to pay that off. And for what??

Just stick with Colorado, you have an amazing opportunity. If you don’t like business, just double major with something else maybe. Or go to a CC for 2 years then go to Los Angeles. Seriously, 120k is a lot of money. And that’s just the tuition, with expensive westwood housing it could be more like 150k.

If you can, visit all the schools and check out the “vibe” you get. You might really like UOCB or UCLA/CAL weather might win you over…no use going to a school where you will not be happy

Cal

LA

Boulder.
Raise the money somehow, you’ll earn it back with interest if you do business at cal and graduate from harvard business!

How about you stop agonizing until you hear back from the UCs? Maybe they will make the choice for you (not that you want it to work out that way). Just a thought.
Lots to consider if you do get accepted. I assume you live in Colorado, do you want to stay there? Are your stats so high and financial need so significant that you will get aid out of state? Are you planning on grad school? All of these factors affect your decision. A free ride and great grades at Boulder might be a stepping stone to law school or an MBA without having to go significantly into debt. Good luck and try to enjoy senior year!

^ilikesalad,

I’ll just rearrange your rankings:
1.) UCLA
2.) Berkeley
3.)colorado.

hahaha :)

Go to UCLA if it’s only a difference of a few thousand. If the difference is tens of thousands than go to CU.

You’re just going to have to wait until you see your financial aid packages.

I don’t live in Colorado, I live in California. The thing stopping me from going to Colorado is that I’m gay and I don’t wanna spend 4 years there being hated on ):

Had no idea that Colorado had that stigma.
But I just realized this thread is premature as admissions for the UC’s are not back yet. You should probably find out if you got in first before debating on the choices…
I’m sure you’ve heard though that UCLA is very friendly for the LGBT community.

Are you a California resident? If so, you may be entitle to cal grants and a 20K tuition (or 30k? I’m not sure). Good deal.

UCLA is very gay friendly. Not sure about the others.

all three schools are gonna be gay friendly. la and berk are filled with very forward thinking people and i’m not sure that the kids at boulder are in too much of a narcotic-induced stupor to care or boulder is also a pretty liberal place. it’s probably a little bit of both.
