Help Me Find A Range!

Hey All,

First time posting… just wondering what the esteemed posters on this site think of my resume. I have no specific colleges in mind to apply to (I’m a HS Junior), but am wondering what an acceptable range is, from safeties to reaches.

Background:
I go to a dual-curriculum parochial (religious) school, meaning I have extra religious classes in addition to your standard Math, Science, English etc. This also means my school has a very limited Honors/AP offerings because of the size. All this aside, we are quite competitive and each year send at least 10 kids to top schools. There are about 80 kids in my graduating class, and I am in the top 15 (percentagewise, not great, but given the caliber of the school, not too shabby)

Scores:
SAT CR: 790
SAT M: 610
SAT W: 640 (didn’t finish my essay, that should go up on a retake)

Academics:
GPA: 3.7
Classes: AP Eng, APUSH, Honors Spanish(4yrs), Honors Hebrew (4yrs- fluent), Honors Math (1yr)

EC:
Mock Trial (4 yrs; Captain 1yr)
Theater: Leads in 3 musicals, Supporting Roles in 2 plays, Produced 1 play
A Capella Choir: Featured soloist, “Best Soloist” nominee at the International Competition of High School A Capella semifinals (4 yrs)
Student Council: Class Rep. (2 yrs) Student Body VP (1yr)
Yoga

Summers:
Trip to international camp in Hungary
Working on a farm together with inner city kids
Work 4 weeks in a soup kitchen
Internship at software start-up

I anticipate very good recs and an above-par essay.

Personal Stats:
White
Male
Gay
Middle Class

Anything else?

I’m looking in the range of:
Kenyon
Oberlin
Middlebury
Vassar
Wesleyan
Vanderbilt
Northwestern

Is this too high? Am I looking in the wrong sorts of places? Any guidance is appreciated!

Is your gpa listed weighted or unweighted? Honestly, colleges really don’t like seeing such a discrepancy in the math and verbal sections of the SAT so if you don’t go up in math it could seriously hurt your app to schools of Vanderbilt/ Northwestern selectivity. Did you take SAT2’s? Have you taken other AP’s/ what did you score?

We don’t do GPA at my school. Thats just a number given to us by the college counselor.

I haven’t taken SAT II/AP tests yet, I will at the end of the year after completing the AP courses in US History and LitComp. I expect a 4 on APUSH, 5 on APLit, 700 range on SAT II for both.

The SAT scores were my first round, after coming home from three months abroad, with 10 hours max of prep. I’m confident i’d bring them up to somewhere respectable by the second time I take them, writing to around 720-750 and math to 660-700

any suggestions?
