<p>hello friends!!! I am applying to Princeton ED in case you didn’t know, but I need some backup schools for RD. you guys are helpful and it’s getting late (!) so I though I’d ask… and maybe this will provide a change of theme from the “how tall are you/what are you grades/what is your mother’s maiden name” kind of threads!
so here are my stats:</p>
<p>I’m a girl (in case you couldn’t tell from my manly username )in VA. oh yeah and i’m white.
GPA: 4.0 uw/4.7something w
SAT I: 2400
SAT IIs: 800 chem, 770 US history, math IIC to come
APs: Chem- 5, US history-5
My ECs/awards are okay I guess but definitely nothing amazing- pres of a club, governor’s school for math/science, short internship at an architecture firm one summer, volunteer work, nmsf, rensselaer medal, piano lessons (no awards) etc… i didn’t even know those debate teams/MUN/AIME/AMC things existed until i came here haha
potential majors: architecture, math, chemistry, physics</p>
<p>Even though I’d like to major in architecture, I DO NOT want to go to a tech school where I’d have to apply to a separate architecture school. I want a liberal arts based school if possible because I like all subjects. I’d rather go to a liberal arts school with no architecture major at all than have to apply to an arch. school separate from the college of arts & sciences.</p>
<p>I want to to go a school in the northeast but not too far (not ME for example). Maybe NC and maybe a little west of the northeast or CA. I don’t want a huge school but not a tiny one either. I don’t want to go anywhere in VA. I also LOVE campuses with stone/gothic buildings; I don’t like brick very much. kinda superficial maybe but oh well. I also definitely don’t want to be in a rural area. Suburban or urban would be nice.</p>

<p>you have no reach schools except for hypms. others are all matches (if you don’t want to go to highly selective technical schools, that is) so apply to any school w/ good architecture curriculum and you will get in.</p>
<p>lol sorry. i just had an urge for some input because i really am not sure where to apply RD yet except for maybe a couple places. i feel like i really need a few schools i’m sure i’ll get into because i know a lot of places reject tons of good stats all the time, and i just can’t decide where so i thought you guys would have some good choices that are similar to pton. thanks for your reply!!!</p>
<p>kraor143 I’m right there with you. We have very similar scores, etc., and similar interests (at least on the math/science front). I’m looking into Williams, Rice, and Johns Hopkins, and I’d suggest you look into some of the other Ivies and see what their architecture schools are like (especially Columbia and Brown, I think). That’s the best I have…</p>
<p>I think WashU has a really good architecture program…I know it’s not “east,” but apparently it has a wonderful campus!! I think both of us are looking for similar things in terms of location, campus, etc…so some places I’m looking at are UPenn (I LOVED Penn!! It was totally the opposite of what I thought it would be…a beautiful, “suburban” campus in the middle of a huge city!!), Columbia, Northwestern (ok, not east…but a wonderful school!!), and some safeties in Canada…like McGill or UToronto. Canadian schools are less selective than comparable U.S. ones, have great academics, and are cheap (even for U.S. citizens…maybe $11,000 Canadian a year?!!). I think you would def get reallllly great merit-based aid, too…and the apps require NO essays!!! So if worse comes to worse and you don’t get into Princeton ED (haha I’m no great judge of the elusive admissions process, but I think you have as good a shot as anyone…probably better!) you can get a LOTT of $$ from a Canadian school, save your parents a few dozen grand a year, and live in a reallllly cool city!!! Haha, if I don’t get into Yale, U of T is definitely a possibility for me!!!</p>
<p>great, thanks mochamaven! i think i will apply to Penn and WashU…that’s weird though, i never envisioned Penn as a suburban campus, but then again I only drove by it once. and yeah it does sound like we’re looking for the same things in schools because Yale an Princeton are not that different. I will definitely start researching schools in Canada too… cheap is always good and not requiring essays is not far behind
