Help Me Find Some Colleges

If NYU is considered as a high match/low reach, can you guys help me come up with a list of 10 schools comprising of 3 safeties, 3/4 match, and 3 reaches? I’m looking towards a liberal arts college or schools that aren’t too big with more of a suburban feel and a special liberal arts education would be fine too.

Thanks in advance.

Where are you from?

What do you want to study?

How much money can you afford?

Have you identified at least one true, rock-solid, fail-safe, financial and academic safety? If not, do you have a Plan B in case you don’t get in to any college/university that you and your family can afford?

I’m an international student.

I want to study, as I said, a liberal arts education. So I’ll study everything for the first two years, but probably economics/business stuff in my last 2 years.

I won’t be applying for FA or anything. Money won’t be a problem.

No, I have not identified a safety. I was hoping I would be able to get one by asking people in this forum.

Are you attending high school in the US now? If so, talk with your guidance counselor.

Are you not in the US? If so, read everything (and I do indeed mean everything) at [EducationUSA | Study Abroad, Student Visa, University Fairs, College Applications and Study in the U.S. / America](http://www.educationusa.state.gov/) then make an appointment with the counselors at the advising center closest to you. These people are the real experts on helping students from your country find good places to study in the US. There are many liberal arts colleges in the US that offer business majors, it won’t be hard for you to find some to apply to. The counselors at EducationUSA know how the grading system in your country relates to the grading system in the US, and they can tell you where previous students from your country have been admitted here.

“Money won’t be a problem.”

Talk with whoever it is who is paying for your education about this one. The Cost of Attendance (COA) at many colleges and universities now is more than USD 50k per year. Do you really and truly have USD 200k or more available for your education? Please remember that the COA includes tuition, fees, food, housing, books, local transportation, two trips each year between you home and the school, personal expenses, etc. You will need documentation that you can cover the COA or you will not get a student visa.

As an international student, your safety is most likely a college/university in your home country. Don’t neglect to find a good option for yourself there.

If you visit the International Student Forum, you will get lots of good ideas. Click on “Discussion Home” in the upper-left of this screen and scroll down to find it.

No, I’m attending a HS in Asia. I’ve read all that and have had appointments with my counselors. We haven’t really started talking about specific schools yet, but I would like to get an idea of where I’m at. Money will definitely not be a problem, my parents have been saving for a while now. So can you give me a list? Something approximately accurate would be fine.
