How are you involved in math and science in your life

Ever since I entered grade school, I have been asked the question What do you want to be when you grow up? My future dream ranged from an astronaut to a policeman. However as I progressed in life I began to realize that I need to focus on skills I am adept in. I realized that my true natural skills are science and math. Although I was younger than my peers, my natural skills helped me become superior to my peers in all subjects. My father told me that if you do not practice your natural skills, they will degrade. As I followed this axiom, I saw my math and science skills begin to increase as I widened the intellectual gap between me and my peers.
In the 7th grade I undertook Science Olympiad. I participated in three events: Crave the Wave, Oceanography, and Science Crime Busters. I placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd respectively in regionals. That year, we won the regional title and I felt that my results and efforts were contributive. Also, in the 8th grade I won one 1st place and two 2nd places. I am continuing my winning streak through High School as I am winning many 1st and 2nd place awards.
Unlike my science skills, I realized my math skills very early. In 5th grade, I won the annual Math Contest, a single elimination school wide tournament. After this victory I began to understand what one of my natural skills was Math. My first majorl math tournament occurred in 8th grade when my teacher persuaded me to join the schools Mathletes. Although my team was not victorious I felt that I performed to the best of my ability and achieved my goals by answering all of my questions correctly. I continued to participate with the Mathletes in High School. In 9th grade I maintained an 88% answer accuracy, a milestone which I hope to improve.
My fathers adage flows harmoniously with the NCSSM motto maius opus moveo" which means accept the greater challenge. I feel that if I follow both of these guidelines, I will achieve great success in NCSSM and in life.

What are your hobbies

Aside from academics I have many different hobbies. However, out of this many, only a few stand out and make a significant impact in my life. Through soccer and my family, I am able to build responsibility, relieve stress, and refresh my mind.
Ever since I was a little child I have played soccer and enjoyed it. Soccer has provided me an easy non-mechanical way to become active, healthy, and sharp. In fact, studies have shown that physical activity is key to intellectual success. Soccer is one of the most critical thinking sports. Soccer stars are not athletic ogres. It takes critical thinking and foresight to play that impeccable pass, set up the key goal, and perform that fancy flick that may just lead to a goal. Such occurrences fill one to the brim with confidence and pleasure.
When I turned 14, I began to referee at the Jordan Soccer Complex. At first I was hesitant to make calls as I did not want to evoke a reaction from the crowd. However, one day I refereed a very critical game with many yellow and red cards. I felt terrible that I sent players off from both teams but I felt justified because their challenges deserved such punishment. After the game many parents came over to me and congratulated me on my performance. Soccer has improved my decision making skills and increased my confidence.
Another important hobby of mine is spending time with my family, especially my little sister. It provides a world of comfort where you are supported and can talk about private matters. Many times I have been on the verge of quitting a club or a sport but my parents have talked me out of it and that decision has been largely influential. I am thrilled to see my sisters face because when she smiles, all of my worries are expunged. I dont think that I would have come this far without my family.
After stepping back and taking a broader view on these two hobbies, I truly realize the impact of soccer and my family on my life.
