help me out

I’m a high school junior and am thinking about going to pensacola christian college. I want to be a biological engineer and am going to take premed as a major. Unfortunately, I’m not so sure I should; besides that I want to take a minor that affiliates with biological engineering but their are so many to choose from. What should I do? Help me please!

Thanks in advance. :}

If you seriously want to become a biological engineer, then you have two options for college:

(1) Get a BS degree in biological engineering. This is probably the most common approach. But you can’t do it at PCC, because this major is not offered.

(2) Get a BS degree in some other field, then go to grad school for an MS degree in biological engineering. In theory, you could do this if you went to PCC. But in practice, it is unlikely that any PCC degree would make you a strong candidate for graduate school in biological engineering.

You could get a premed or biology degree from PCC. However, such degrees (from any school) are not usually considered good preparation for graduate study in engineering, because they are too light on physical sciences and math.

Alternatively, you could get an Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree from PCC, but in this case, there are two other problems. First, neither of these fields is closely related to biological engineering. Second, PCC’s engineering degrees are not ABET-accredited, which is the normal standard for BS degrees in engineering. For example, the University of Florida’s MS program in Agricultural and Biological Engineering says:

So at best, PCC would give you an unaccredited engineering degree in an unrelated engineering discipline. This would most likely put you at the bottom of the pile when it came to grad school admissions.

You should be aware that PCC is an unaccredited institution. As such, none of its degrees are guaranteed to be acceptable to graduate schools or professional licensing boards.

Do NOT go to PCC. It is the worst bastion of legalism I have ever seen in my entire life. Male and Female students aren’t even allowed to shake hands! It’s utterly absurd!

Why don’t you do yourself a favor and take a look at Biola University ([Biola University - A Private Christian University in Southern California](http://www.biola.edu)) and Wheaton College ([Wheaton College: Home](http://www.wheaton.edu))
