Hey guys so I am applying ED to WASHU in St Louis pray to God I get in haha. Im going next friday for an interview in St Louis hopefully this will hlp my chances. Anyways, the real question is, if I do not get into WashU is Ohio State University a top notch school? Do people read an OSU diploma and realize that this kid, while obviously having a little party experience, received a great education? If anyone has any present or past experience on OSU I would greatly appreciate it. I am shooting for its honors program if I can get a 30 in October on the ACT. I am interested in studying economics and moving on to graduate school. Obviously I am currently a senior. Living in Nashville, Tennessee.

ANY help is welcomed. Thanks guys I truly do appreciate everyone on this forum.

It sounds like your college list includes MIT (guessing from your username), Wash U and OSU. I am puzzled by the common thread in those three schools.
My advice for this week is to focus on your ED school with the upcoming interview. Do you feel prepared?

OSU will be fine. To give you a point of reference (as you are probably worried that no one will want you at their graduate school with a degree from tOSU), here is a listing of the undergraduate schools represented at the top 10 archaeology Phd program at Arizona State University…and note how there is a wide mixture of students from elite schools, flagships, and ‘no-name’ schools. If you do well, you will be fine. Find some Econ Phd programs that you are interested in and see where their grad students went to undergrad, you will probably find a wide variety also.

tOSU is a great school. Frankly I think you have little chance of getting in WUStL. They are very score conscious and if your ACT is below 30 you are well under the 25%ile.

Silliconvalleymom-In a way yes I am prepared for my interview I know very much about the school and am going to show that I am a person that they want that possesses more than mediocre test scores. I have a very close family friend and yes he knows much about me. I am probably closer to him than my parents are. Anyways he is an alum from WASHU and says that I have a solid chance based on my social ability and knowledge of material that is not within the schooling mindset

Haystack-Thanks for that list and yes that is what I have been thinking. It’s just many people have taken on the mind set that you cannot go anywhere without a “Harvard” degree or some other big name school. However, the research I have done I have fell in love with OSU and that is most likely where I will be attending next fall. Do you all beleive that it is worth the OOS tuition though?

Is the OOS tuition worth it? Depends on where you are from. I live in Iowa and there is no way I would pay OOS $32000 (or whatever it is) for my son for a degree from tOSU when he can get a degree from Iowa or ISU for $16,000.

You are from TN…what is wrong with UT? Or some cheaper OOS options like Ole Miss and Alabama? Just something to think about. If the cost doesn’t matter then go with tOSU.
