Help me with dress selection to wear to a wedding this Sunday

^^Nordstrom, I think, still has 20% off if their tissue-weight wraps. I happen to like their new wool-cashmere blend better than pure cashmere, since the new wraps do not shed as much.

Nordie’s can do rush alterations if you ask for it. Mr B needed a black suit according to the rules of a business function of which he learned 2 days prior to his departure. Not only Nordstrom found a perfect suit for him, they did the hemming and sleeves in one day!

Sleeveless for a day wedding when the weather is in the 50s? I would have thought sleeves would be more appropriate for an event like that. But what do I know?

I don’t think it’ll be too warm inside and it’s probably air conditioned. It’s not like a conservatory you would have at your house.

The wrap is lavender and has lavender ribbons which tie in the front. It’s very spring-y even though it’s fur.

No Nordstrom in my city.

Not sure about the watered silk - it really is perfect for a warm spring/summer day, but a day in the 50’s in April, I just don’t think so.

I don’t own any dresses with sleeves!

Just popping in to say I hate dressing this time of year, for exactly these reasons. We’re ready for some color but the weather doesn’t cooperate.

I think you’ll look great in either dress!

I’d go with LBD, black strappy shoes, pearls, and lavender wrap.

Yes, hate dressing for formal occasions this time of the year!

I think Consolation provided a nice summary of the outfit. Sounds nice to me. Have a great time at the wedding, emilybee!

I think the problem with the blue dress isn’t just the length, but that Spanx are required.
I’d go with the black dress and lower heels.

( thanks for the reminder about the nordys wraps, I’m going to pick up a couple, since Ds picnic reception is from 4pm to 9pm, in June)

I don’t know if anyone has considered this, but with your ability to change your avatar you could post a tiny picture of the items in question!

“I’d go with LBD, black strappy shoes, pearls, and lavender wrap.”

Final decision made and the winner is ^ this.

For the next time…

I have a couple of dresses that sound very similar to your blue dress. They are somewhat fitted knit fabrics. I solved the spanx issue by going to target and getting Hanes body wear in a size larger than my usual size. It’s enough to make the dresses look smooth, but not so tight that they feel like a girdle…which is what tighter Spanx feel like to me. The Hanes I have is just above the knee and then the waist is above my waist. So…the whole thing looks nice and smooth.

Maybe something different than tight Spanx would make you feel more comfortable.

The blue dress is rayon and spandex.

I’ll look into the Hanes, but I want one which has a bra. I had one spanx which came up to right below my bra and it was forever rolling over. Hated that.

^^EB: next time try this: http://www.bodywrap-shapewear.com/aboutus.asp</a>
I’ve been wearing these for years and love them! Hope you enjoyed the wedding.

Oooh, I like these - especially The Slenderizer.

Wedding was lovely and my dress was perfect for the occasion. It was a really crappy day here (cold, cloudy & damp) so anything too springy would have looked silly. And even though it was all indoors I definitely needed my wrap!

The only thing I didn’t like about it was the time of day. I find it hard to feel in a party mood so early in the day.

Thanks for the report, emilybee! It sounds like your outfit was indeed perfect. Bodywraps are great. Another brand of shapewear that is really amazing is Simone Perele. Their stuff does not ride up or fall down!
