Help me with my christmas exchange list

How about some new booties or boots from DSW?

What about a Hydro flask water bottle. They make several and some are good for hot beverages or soup.
Cookbook- I have the new Barefoot Contessa on my list as well as the new Ottolenghi cookbook.
Smartwool socks

I sent my son and fiancé the holiday Sox from Bombas. I never heard of those Sox before reading CC.

My work place is going to try the pull name from a hat this year. I’m not disappointed. Usually I receive edible objects that I,pass on.

I also like to golf. I could always use golf balls, and I’d specify which kind, tees, I like them in hot pink, a monogrammed hand towel for the clubs, socks, hat, golf clothes, club covers. Maybe a round of golf somewhere or cart fees. I also get shoes every season but a link would work for that.

I’d also never turn down dinner or snacks or fruit sent to my house.

I really like those gloves and bag @intparent. Maybe I see if my H would like to put the bag on his list, it would be nice to have bags for our stuff.

I always like socks, I like good socks. And I’ll think about sending out specific links to stuff.

I’ll think about a donation also but since I talked everyone into cutting out all this needless giving, I think it’s nice to get one material item.

I can see where gift exchanges can get hard but this ended up easier last year. It’s only for the people who are physically at our family gathering. My mom got to where she can not financially get presents for everyone, my il’s don’t shop much. And none of us need anything. Our gathering is my sister and her family, my family, my mom and my il’s. Everyone get along and it’s been really nice to get together

You guys are always showing me new things - had to get one of those necklaces for myself!

I can’t really vouch for the quality of the bag, since it is just on my list as well at this point. But the two bags I had for just one pair ripped or smelled icky. (Note to self: Always take wet skis out right away when get home and turn bag inside out to dry). This is the one bag I saw that I thought was in my kid’s price range.

Thanks for the info on the necklaces!

@kiddie , what color did you get? I’m buying the turquoise next

My family draws names too. I’m fortunate to pretty much be able to buy anything I want at any time (I don’t actually want all that much, at this point, but still. Clothes and shoes are difficult for others to purchase due to sizing and fit. But I really like some of these other ideas so I may steal some for my own wish list.

As far as donations, DH’s family in the last year has lost the eldest sister (of 12 kids!) and the third-to-youngest brother. They were both the life of the party and bro-in-law was a real renaissance man. Never married, lived in the country, was a woodworker, photographer (with his own darkroom), beer brewer, etc. It was a very tough year for everyone. Both of them were in our local hospice for a few weeks each, so starting last year, we’re doing hospice donations in their memory.

I am adding the turquoise sims necklace to my list! Thanks for the info.

Got the ivory one!

I wore my black one today.

If you want to buy that necklace, try STONESTEAL as the discount code. I don’t know if that will go through but it was a promo code.

Sorry to those who already ordered if the promo code works. I had forgotten about it. And I hope I’m not opening a big can of worms with the people at accessory concierge.

I have bought a few items from there and have been happy. They don’t have it anymore but this summer I bought the Meagan in turquoise. It’s really pretty.

@kiddie, you’ll love the ivory! I wear it constantly. It’s a great color with so many colors. I also wear it with an animal print sweater I have. @deb922, I was thinking about that black one the other day, I bought this taupe dress (remember the tunic/leggings discussion last week). I’m wearing it with black leggings and a pair of taupe boots. I was thinking I would have loved to have the black Sims necklace.

How about a soft chenille sweater like this? It’s really soft—felt it at Loft.

Got the necklace and it is very nice. However, bought another piece on sale and it is not at all as described (can’t return sale items) so overall a split result from that website.

We did a lot of variations on the family gift swap thing. None worked particularly well…so we don’t give gifts except to folks who have not yet graduated from high school.

  1. We tried the pick names with a price limit. That was a real dud! No one really got anything they could use...or wanted and I think everyone returned their gifts. Price limit was $75 but this was years ago.
  2. So then we tried having each person send emails to all telling three things in the price range that they could use. One year, I put a new wallet, nice gloves, and/or a new scarf. I got a set of flannel sheets. I wasn’t the only one who got something nice but not useful to me.
  3. So then we tried having each person write five specific things on the back of an index card. The front had their name. That seemed like it should work...but it didn’t.

We make a donation to a charity each year…and a pretty sizable one…in honor of our families.

I have to say…as the years have gone by…we are very grateful NOT to have extra stuff under the tree…much of which was getting donated or exchanged.

We are trying a white elephant exchange this year with about 20 some people. The item has to be nice and the limit is $50. I am giving this: https://www.signals.com/cgi-bin/hazel.cgi?action=DETAIL&ITEM=HY5412 (collapsible vases) and adding to it with Infusion chocolates: https://www.infusionchocolates.com/

^I bought a few of those vases last year for my friends who camp, easy to store in the camper and great for the flowers their kids, well mostly grandkids now, pick around the campgrounds
