<p>So i got a letter in the mail today informing me that my high school has failed the Texas assessment in Math and Reading making it academically unacceptable. What does that mean for my chances of getting into college?
will it make it harder since they will think my classes werent as challenging?
Or will it be easier since they will think I didnt recieve as much opportunities as another person?
Any advice would be appreciated- thanks!</p>
<p>It probably won’t affect your chances of getting into college. It’s not like schools just randomly fail standards tests; everyone would already have been aware that your school wasn’t doing very well. </p>
<p>You’re not being notified because it will affect your college chances. You’re being notified because, if the school is noted as academically unacceptable again next year, the state may close it.</p>
<p>Your record can be largely independent of your school’s. You can point to standardized test scores that YOU have achieved. You can point to AP test results. Hopefully you have activities beyond what your school offers, perhaps classes at a community college or online; regional science fairs and competitions; community involvement and paid work experience. Each of these will demonstrate your intellectual curiosity and achievement exceed the limitations of your struggling school.</p>
