I don’t have enough colleges on my list, but am having trouble finding more.
My stats: 1270/1900 SAT (that one was my first try, will take again)
GPA: unsure of exact, somewhere between B/A
My list is currently:
Earlham
Ithaca
Goucher
Guilford (possibly)

I’m not sure of my major but am thinking about occupational therapy (so biology, chemistry, psychology, no idea)

I want somewhere where it’s more socially liberal (large LGBT population, etc.). I’m looking Mid-Atlantic mostly, maybe midwest (more eastern part though) and possibly New England (Vermont)

Colleges I am NOT considering: Reed, anything in Virginia (too close), Hampshire

OT is a great major. There are 5 year programs.

SUNY Buffalo (University at Buffalo, a NY state school) offers the program and the tuition is relatively low for OOS compared with many other OOS schools. Worth looking into.

If you are interested in OT, you might also want to consider schools that have “Sports Medicine” or “Kinesiology” programs.

Check out St. Mary’s College of Maryland, too. Beautiful waterfront campus. Close to Virginia as the crow flies (or as the boat sails) but probably far enough from your home as the car drives. Seems to have a strong Biology department.

Siena College. They’re underrated academically and give great financial aid. It fits your stats as well as your listed schools.

You need to find at least one clear safety school that you could be happy at. Criteria to look for:
- Certainty of admission based on your stats (many public institutions post this on their websites for in-state candidates)
- Certainty that you can pay for it without any aid other than federally determined (FAFSA) aid. For a good estimate of your FAFSA EFC see [College Calculators - savings calculators - college costs, loans](<a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>Calculate Your Cost – BigFuture | College Board)
- Your major is offered, or if it is a 2-year school, the first two years of your major are offered with a formal articulation agreement with at least one 4-year institution.
- You are confident that you can be happy there if you don’t get in anywhere else that you can afford.

Try your best to meet all four of these criteria. If you don’t find any safeties that meet all four, then come as close as possible.
