HELP!!! Need Feedback

What are the chances of me going to a top 20 school?

I go to a very highly ranked private school in NY, let say its either Horace Mann, Dalton, or Collegiate

I have gotten B’s and B+ in high school and will be taking 3 AP courses senior year Stat, Bio, Gov. will try to get A’s to show upward trend in Senior year

I have a 750 bio SAT 2 and will take 2c soon and lit, (800 on diagnostic for 2c and lit)

I have a 2370 sat

I am pres of a science club/worked in red cross/model un 9,10 got some awards

Trying to finally get a blood drive in my school this year

Worked past 2 summer in cancer research lab, developing a drug to cure late forms of prostate cancer, My research is the basis of the paper my lab is writing. Turning in and Intel project as well. Very serious work, thats all I did everyday 8-6 pm last two summers.

I know my grades aren’t good and not too many AP’s but my school is really hard, and AP’s are impossible to get into.

I have some great connections and had one of the Dean’s tour me at one of the IVY’s and got have lunch and dinner as well with him and his wife.
I would greatly appreciate any feedback. Thanks

You could ask the Dean’s wife. She would know.

lol, we really didn’t talk about my chances.but i’d love to here your opinion.

Honestly, I have no idea (I’m not a chance-er), but from your post I can see that you know that your record in terms of rigor and GPA would not be typically considered competitive at the schools you mention. It would be very hard to give “chances” when your question is based on your connections. It would depend on how much influence your particular connection has at that particular school. If you have a close enough “connection” with your connection, ask him/her. (I still think the Dean’s wife is your best source of information!)

For context there have been kids kids with B’s and B+ at my school can go michigan, Weslyan, Cornell(rare) Wisconsin, Penn(connections) Georgetown, GW,
and usually don’t get into anything worse than Bucknell. My advisor likes Colgate, Brandies, Cornell, Michigan Wisconsin, BU, BC with Cornell being a reach. U of M being reach like.

BTW advisor does not know SAT for me yet.

It sounds like your counselor has a good list for you.

i think that if you get good grades this coming year itll show not only an upward trend but that you are willing to put in the effort to work hard - schools dont like to see someone get an amazing SAT score without the amazing grades to back them up - sorry that was harsh - i do think that you have a good shot for the top 20 schools definitely (but your list of 1-20 might differ from mine) - good luck

can you chance me? - “Plz Chance Me - Im desperate” thread in this forum ( i can’t figure out how to link it lol)

Thanks for the feedback I’ll try to chance you as well.

My dad went to Horace Mann and my cousins go to Dalton and Riverhead. All are great schools and a B or B+ is equivalento an A or A+ in most public schools.

Very cool aairzoom what year was your dad at HM?
