Hello everyone, I am in a rough situation. I am a cc student and got into UCSD, however, they declared me as a non-resident b/c my parents live out of state. Anywho, it turns out that I can’t afford to go there. I am wondering how much does the name of the school count if you would like to go to grad school or med school? I am not bashing state schools, but some schools aren’t worth the money because of the quality of the education. Would a med school/law school/grad school prefer to look at canidates from UCLA vs. a state school? I don’t know what to do folks.

UCLA is a state school. It wouldn’t really hurt to go to a community college for 1-2 years until you become a resident.

I am a resident of california, but ucsd has some bs requirements of who they consider as a resident. I have completed my transfer requirements. I guess I am talking about a school’s reputation. HOw much does it matter when you apply to grad school. are your grades/accomplishments worth more than the namebrand of the school.
