Help! Northwestern thinks my Dad applied for admission instead of me

Today I checked something on my Dad’s email and I was shocked to discover that he had received an email from Northwestern beginning like this:

"Dear (Dad’s name):

We are pleased that you have decided to apply to Northwestern University. We
have received your application to the Judd A. and Marjorie Weinberg College of
Arts and Sciences to begin study in Fall 2009. You will receive an admission
decision by mid-April.

The mailing and e-mail address you provided in your application will be used
for all correspondence. The e-mail address we have on record for you is: (Dad’s email address)"

That means Northwestern believed Dad is the one who applied! How can something of this kind happen? I checked my saved Common Application and supplement and I correctly stated my email adress, as well as my Dad’s email adress. Besides, I sent the same Common Application to other schools that sent a confirmation email back to ME.

More importantly, what can I do now to solve this problem? That email was sent right after I submitted my application, on Dec 30, but I only saw it now. I don’t usually have access to my Dad’s email adress and he doesn’t speak English, so he had no idea what that email was about. Now I am afraid it is a little late to take action. God, I really, really loved Northwestern :(

Call the Admissions Office and explain. It’s just a silly error on their part. I don’t think this is important.

Send them an email – and kid them about it. Think of it as a hilarious script for a movie. Your non-English speaking father – I guess from Scandinavia – gets admitted to Northwestern on the strength of your application and actually shows up to attend. It would definitely be a comedy. I saw an old movie once about Rodney Dangerfield going to college…funny…hahaha

same thing happened to me, i just emailed them the corrections. NU is so slow at responding to emails though…
