help on c.r!!!

I need help desperately on c.r section of SAT I, I have taken it only once and i got M-770(one wrong), W-770(two wrong) and C.R-630(ten wrong :(). I consider myself to be above average however my C.R score does not reflect that, I read a lot and I am applying to M.I.T, Stanford, Caltech, Columbia etc…I know that my C.R score is very low for any of those schools but my other scores are solid. Can anyone help me improve that score to like 700-750? That would greatly improve my chances. Thank you!

…
if you are math-oriented, those CR scores will not be THAT big of a problem, but still it is always safe to get a good score.

Make IM msgs to yourself next to each paragraph,
read it till you get the main idea.

after that, go to the questions, underline important question stems, like what they are asking for.

Always budget your time.

I struggle in CR too. Then, I found my Barron’s SAT and just flipped it to some random page. I have no trouble with short passages but long passages are a different story. The page had a tip: read long passages piece by piece instead of all at once because at the end, you’ll forget what you read in the beginning and waste your time rereading the whole passage over again. Correspond each part to the questions and CR will become easier. Then, from there, you just practice and practice by reading different passages over and over again. Also, study vocabulary.

Definitely study vocabulary.

Also, if it’s a relatively short passage, read the questions first. If it’s a long passage (more than one full column), read the passage first.

Practice, practice, practice. take a million practice tests and focus on the CR sections.
Get some vocab books and study like 30 a day or something like that.
When you’re taking the test, try to focus really hard on the passages and actually understand what it’s saying, instead of just skimming through.

read a book.
read many books.

build a time machine, go back in time, and read more books.
