Help on my scores

I just got my scores today and they’re

Chemistry 790
Mathematics Level 2 770
Physics 770

Critical Reading 780
Math 780
Writing 760

I’m thinking of applying to Stanford, and need opinions on my chances. I’m an editor on one of my school papers and won an award for writing from the royal commonwealth society. Any feedback is appreciated!

You have the scores to apply anywhere. The thing is that even with those scores that are competitive for every school including the ivy league and top tier schools like Stanford, you are going to be in a pool with 20,000 applicants. Those who get accepted not only have the scores but tend to have one or more of the following:

  • Demonstration of great passion in their extra curriculars spanning years and often with regional or national achievement in those extra curriculars, and where the application comes together to tell a compelling story
  • Unusual achievement or talent in the arts usually with regional or national recognition
  • Unusual achievement in academics that goes beyond what others have. ie. finalist ect in Westinghouse, Siemens ect, perfect or near perfect SAT scores, SAT II scores, number one in class ect
  • Those from under represented minorities
  • Those from under represented states
  • Those who have had to overcome great obstacles
  • Those who are legacies
  • Recruited athletes
  • Those who have a very interesting story to tell in their personal statement that makes an admission officer want to accept that person
(If you want to highlight your writing then I would not show just that award but a passion over years through writing competitions, writing on journals, ect)

You have a chance to get in anywhere. Now you just need to figure out how to make yourself stand out to maximize that chance
Congrats on your high scores

Wow! Congrats on all your scores. They’re REALLY good.

What did you do to practice Chem? What prep book?
Any advice on CR? Did you use a separate prep book for it or just BB?

Great scores. Just write great essays and your chances are good anywhere.

I used the college board study guides for chem, math 2 and SAT 1 and the princeton review for physics. Sparknotes helps a ton too!

really? WHat subjects/sections is Sparknotes good for?? Like CR/Math II…etc?
Some of my friends have those books. They just havent taken the actual test yet so they can’t compare.
Thanks a bunch! I think i’ll definitely study the collegeboard guides like crazy.
