for some reason i’ve taken Barron, Kaplan, Sparknotes SAT II writing and i usually miss 10-15
but i always do worse on the real test and it seems harder. Like usually i can tell like “oh this is testing me on misplaced modifier” on practice etc… but on the test i cant tell anything or any problems…

I dont get nervous taking tests though… in face i usually do better. SAT, other SAT II’s i did fine… what am i doing wrong!!!

There’s really not much you can do. Whether you know or not, your mind isn’t as clear as it is while you are doing practice tests at home. I am the exact same way, being able to spot things out at home, but while you are taking the real deal, you don’t notice things like that. Do the best you can, and missing 10 isn’t that bad. Good Luck.

All the grammer tricks that Kaplan (that’s what I used) teaches–memorize all of them. Even the simplest ones that seem like they’re for first graders. Know them thoroughly, and do a lot practice problems, and you’ll eventually notice that the problems do not vary all that much in terms of types of mistakes. And definitely read the sentence slowly and carefully, two or three times before choosing an answer.

Nerves. Well, that can be mediated if you feel more familiar with the test. But nevertheless, 10-15 can still get you a 700+ (maybe even higher–I’m kinda rusty trying to gauge the scales) depending on your essay.
