Help on SAT Math

I am studying right now to take my first SAT in March. I am using the Official College Board study guide. I have been doing great and what I want to on the reading and writing but the multiple choice math is killing me! I find it weird to because math has always been one of my best subjects in school and I am even planning on taking the math level 2 subject test.

So my question is, how can I help myself right now on the SAT math? I know studying helps but does anyone else have any useful tips? I do have the study guide for the math level 2 test, do you think that could help right now?

Thank you for your help!

For every question you get wrong. Write it down on a flash card. Once in a while answer the flashcard and understand the strategy involved in getting that question correct. Remember your strategy and try to remember how the question is formatted so that next time when a similar question shows up, you can use that particular strategy.

The SAT II math subject test will not be of much help for the SAT math, it incorporates precalculus, whereas SAT math does not. Your best solution might be to take many practice tests (especially official ones) and get used to the types of questions they ask. Every time you get one wrong

 1. Ask yourself ‘why?’ Did you forget a concept/formula? Was it a careless mistake?
 2. Read through CB’s explanation and make sure you understand how to solve and why you did not get it right. You can try to solve it again without looking at the solution.
 3. If the issue was a concept or formula make sure to review it so that next time it won’t cause an issue.
