Help! Oven Issues

Hey parents, I’m back for yet more cleaning advice =)

A few weeks ago my roommates and I cleaned our suite’s oven with Easy-Off Spray. We only had time to wait a few hours (not overnight as the can suggests) before we wiped it off.

Now, every time we use our oven, there is a funny smell and the glass on the door of the oven (where you can see through to the inside) gets all steamed up. I’ve tried cleaning it with Simple Clean, cleaning the actual glass with Windex, and just scrubbing the whole thing with water, to no avail.

Suggestions? Anyone had this issue before? Thank you!

Try cleaning (wiping it down) again with a mix of water, white vinegar, and a squirt of Dawn. Use at least a cup of vinegar plus one or two cups of water with the dawn squirt.

Afterwards, fill a bowl with some baking soda and let it sit in there overnight.

Put a sign on the oven to warn others not to turn the oven on.

It’s just me in the dorm right now (It’s Spring Break and all the other girls have vamoosed), so others turning it on won’t be an issue =) Thank you for the tip! I’ll go try it right now.

ETA: I may have found the issue!

We have an oven with a heat source in the bottom, where the broiler is. I opened the broiler to wipe it down and there was still a LOT of white residue from the original cleaning (we obviously didn’t clean that carefully enough).

I wiped it all off and have the baking soda sitting in there now. Hopefully it works :)
