Help please!

Hello,

I am an immigrant from china who came here in 5th grade. Right now I am a high school junior. I am considering applying to MIT later this year, but I’m not sure of my chances:

GPA (unweighted) : 3.95
SAT score: 2300
activities: student government on various levels, newspaper editor, science club president, youth commission on state level, internship at a local biochemical facility (weekly), writer for various chinese newspapers, visual arts, teen-ink magazine

thoughts? thanks! ^.^

Yes, you should, but MIT is a long shot for anyone … between now and application time, try to understand what other successful applicants to MIT have had, besides great stats, because grades, SATs, and a list of leadership is not the only thing they had going for them. What accomplishment or feat have you done that is better than anyone in the country? What scientific competitions have you participated? Some MIT applicants have won national or state level piano competitions, others have won or been recognized at national science competitions, and others might also be Eagle Scouts or star athletes in addition to strong skills in leadership.
