I’m going to say…be a construction worker and skip the college part.

haha Plattsburg. or Brockport.

most suny schools arent that easy to get into…if you want one with parties then Albany is your choice, but idk if you can get in. the ones that are easy to get into are not party schools

Is the deal that you have to go to college or you have to graduate from college?

Frankly, doesn’t sound like you’re ready to take over the family business and a college degree’s not going to “fix” you. See the recently posted article on the rip-off that college is for those graduating in the bottom 50% of their HS classes (I believe it was posted on one of the parent admissions boards). From your “interests” as well as your SAT scores and reasons for desiring to go to college, this DEFINITELY applies to you. Sorry, but if the only reason you want to go to school is to party and have a fun time and your SAT was ~1000 (and I would guess your GPA was probably fairly low as well? 2.5-ish?), there’s really not a whole lot of reason to consider college.
If you’re not committed to success with your life, why should your family even consider entrusting you with their business?!
You need to be considering college for A LOT more of a reason than simply to take over the family business or please your family. Have a goal, a passion in life.

oswego might be a good choice; i heard it’s pretty much a party school. i second brockport; i know some heavy drinkers there. don’t listen to the people who tell you to go to college to get an education. a bachelor’s degree from most schools says nothing about a person’s intellectual abilities. you’re lucky you have a future basically handed to you on a plate.

wow guys, way to be discouraging. 1010 is probably somewhere around the average for SATs. there are plenty of colleges out there that would accept you and give you a decent education. i dont know much about the suny’s so i cant help you there but i do know like 5 schools off the top of my head in NJ that would accept you. do a search on college board and see what schools are in your test score range.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and ideas … Currently i have around a 3.2 GPA at St. Johns and in hs i was in honers and all that i just don’t do good on big tests like the SAT and ACT etc. I am extremely lucky to have this in my life i realize that but no reason to discourage me man i am just trying to graduate and have a good time … i understand that i should want to do well in school and all that but i don’t have to if you were in my shoes maybe you would understand … i know i may sound lazy and all that but come on you wouldn’t be thinking the same ???

No. You may be able to take over the business but with no knowledge, you sure as hell won’t be able to maintain and run it. Even if you can perform the daily operations part(I’m not sure what kind of business it is), you most definitely will not understand the financial end of it.

And beanieboo…you are completely missing the point of our replies.

Thinking the same about what? That you should find a school where you can party all night and do mediocre work for an expensive piece of paper that will give you privileges to run a business that your family has worked hard to establish and probably has employees who rely on it to make a living? Sorry, but my answer is…NO! I wouldn’t be thinking the same! If you can’t make a commitment to learn what you can without having to seek drugs, alcohol and/or partying and simply tough it out, then I really don’t see why you should have the reigns of a company placed in your hands like a spoiled little prince. I apologize for sounding so harsh, but I don’t think you should be given the business if you are not ready to take that kind of responsibility.

okay that can be your opinion on the matter but i also know that i don’t need a diploma to run it and maintain the company. I see no need to even talk about the matter any more i am sorry i even brought it up. I didn’t want to seek information on whether what i am doing is right or wrong i just wanted to find the school i was looking for. I am also far from spoiled i pay for almost everything i own. Oh yeh and around 25 000 for St.Johns. I am at least smart enough to realize its a waste and i would like to enroll in a different environment which is sole reason for creating an account on here.
