What does this mean? do you guys know more about People to People International? Does this mean that someone nominated me ? or what?

got the following email a couple of hours ago:

( My first name), you will soon receive an invitation to attend a 2009 People to People Leadership Summit.

People to People was founded in 1956 by my grandfather, U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower, on the premise that peace can be achieved through understanding. As one of tomorrow’s young leaders, the Leadership Summit offers you a unique opportunity to explore your potential and enjoy a remarkable educational experience. Spend part of your next summer having fun on a renowned college campus and making friends with other highly motivated middle-school and high-school students from around the world.

Details of the Leadership Summits are included in the formal invitation you will receive. You may also visit our website to find out more and enroll online.

Sincerely,

Mary Jean Eisenhower
President and CEO, People to People International

thanks in advance!

These things can be fun if you have the money, but probably have a minimal bearing on your chances at a school like Yale. I went on one of these trips in middle school. Not everyone on that trip was particularly outstanding so I don’t imagine that it’s the most competitive pool to get accepted into the program. Congrats, and travel somewhere if you like, but don’t think that a top school will be blown back by P2P.

I don’t have the money… I just had no idea what it meant. thank you, milessmiles. by the way, I’m from Romania…hmmm

Yeah I did that in the 5th grade. A lot of fun, and well run. Expensive though…

yeah… I won’t be able to go. my parents can’t even afford to pay for my plane ticket if I get into one of the colleges I applied to… they’ll have to take a loan from the bank. so…

thanks for the input
