I worked 7 weeks 9-5 last summer on research with a professor who worked as a post doctoral for Yale. Although, this past school year, most recent summer, and until present I am working in another laboratory, in which I will be published as a co-author in one of the lab’s papers.

Do I need a supplemental letter of recommendation, and if so, should I go with the Yalie professor, although I spent less time with him.
(i am applying ED)

Go with the person with whom you did the more extensive and more recent work. It won’t make a whit of difference that the other guy went to Yale.

I didn’t answer the first part of your question, whether you need a supplemental letter of rec. Submit one to Yale only if it adds a perspective that your main academic recs do not. If it is more of the same, it’s wasting the admissions officer’s time and makes it look like you’re just piling stuff on for the sake of piling it on.
