Help the Deferees Please!

Do Yale admissions officers already know which deferred candidates they like the best and just review those, or do they review ALL deferred candidates again?

When do you think they’ll start the process?

They told my guidance counselor that they reviewed all the deferred candidates again.

they probably review them all again, but I can bet my bottom dollar they have some at the top of their list

Have any deferred candidates updated their Yale application or contacted their adcom since December? Is it a good idea to do so?

I was deferred from Yale as well. As far as I am aware they do review the applications again, holistically comparing them to the rest of the RD group. There are going to be more qualified deferred students because they have to find a way to decide who is accepted and who isn’t but I honestly don’t think that the admissions office can honestly count you out. Wouldn’t they have just rejected you in the first place if you were not up to par.

As for the updating my profile. My college counselor took care of most of the details but what you should do is never give them the impression that you are not interest. If you have made any improvement or did very well as some activity during '04 send an e-mail alerting the officer in charge of your file that info. If it however is an athletic sucess that could get you noticed and recruited contact the coach. The admissions office is not the place to judge your qualities as an athelte because they rely on the coaches to tell them who they want/need and who is nothing special.
Good Luck
