Hello!
I am currently a student at a large university in an urban area. So far I love my professors and the atmosphere, but I am having a few issues. For one, I am very homesick. My current university is over 100 miles away from home. On top of that, the only friend I have so far is my roommate. I am a little on the shy side, and any attempts I have made to make friends hasn’t lead to anything. I should include I am a freshman going into my third month. I know this is early on in the academic year to really see what’s best for me to do, but I am incredibly homesick.
The university I am thinking of transferring to is a branch campus of a better university than the one I am currently at; however, it is a smaller, more rural campus. It would be more affordable and closer to home. The only issue is I am not sure I am considering transferring for the right reasons. My boyfriend currently attends the university I am thinking of transferring to, which worries me because from what I have read this is a risky reason to switch. I like to think that the other reasons I have come up with are the driving force for wanting to transfer (closer to home, much cheaper, better name, safer) but I’m still unsure on what I’m truly feeling. I have taken into account there is a possibility we could split up, and my backup plan would then be to transfer to the main campus of that university, if I really felt like I needed to.
Basically, I am looking for any objective opinions. I would really appreciate anybody’s input!
