I just converted from Android (google pixel 1) to an iPhone 11.
My pictures didn’t all transfer over. I spent 4 plus hours at Costco the first time, and I’m not fond of the idea of going back. I called Verizon (can I mention we pay them about 500 bucks a month) and they said they don’t help with data transfers.
Any suggestions? Verizon suggested an app Called content transfer, but they didn’t ask any questions before that suggestion.
I may go ahead and try it, but I trust you people more than them
How did you get the majority of them to transfer over?
Nevermind - it doesn’t matter. The easiest way is download the google photo app on your iphone and back-up all your photos to the same account that you have connected to your pixel. Then on your pixel you will be able to access all of them through the Photos app.
If you’ve done this, I have a second suggestion but this should work.
(I just did this a few weeks ago when my parents went from iphone to pixel and another android.)
Can you go to an Apple store or call their help line? When I get a new iPhone, they transfer everything for me and it is ready to go almost immediately. In my case, it was from iPhone to iPhone but I would think they should be able to help you from a pixel to iPhone.
I misread your post. I thought you were going from iphone to pixel, not the other way around.
The same method should work though. Just download the google photo app on your new phone, login with whatever you used on your pixel, and voila they should be there.
Thanks. I plan to try the Apple store tomorrow. The guy at the Verizon kiosk at Costco moved “everything” from the pixel to the iphone, but pics are definitely missing. I think Romani has the right idea, but I want a pro to help.
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/google-photos/id962194608 is the Google Photos app on the Apple store. You should be able use it with your Google login credentials on your iPhone to access your photos that were uploaded to Google Photo.
The photos visible on your Android phone may include (a) photos stored only on the phone, (b) photos stored only in the cloud (Google Photos typically), and (c) phone stored both on the phone and in the cloud.
If you had the photos copied from one phone to another by a USB cable, only those in category (a) and (c) will be visible on your iPhone.
Thanks, this is helpful. I’m actually at the Verizon store now, trying another app. I have an appt. at the Apple store tomorrow. If I can’t get it fixed at Verizon, I’m going to try and figure out where the photos are actually stored.
@ucbalumnus, I suspect the “problem” you mentioned is what I’m having. Do you know how to get the ones stored in the cloud only to show up on the iphone? I am currently doing the transfer, and I see the number that shows up transferring from the droid is the same number that transferred to the IPhone when I was at Costco. I am going to try and sign in to google from my iPad while the conversion is happening and see what I can figure out.
Thanks
Google photos! Make sure all photos are backed up on the old phone (use wifi if you have already shut down service) and then sign into Photos on the iphone.
If your Android phone previously uploaded your photos to Google Photos, download that app to your iPhone ( https://apps.apple.com/us/app/google-photos/id962194608 ), use it, login with your Google account, then view or download the photos as you desire.
I just realized that @romanigypsyeyes told me to do this yesterday, but something wasn’t registering. I could have saved myself a trip to Verizon, but it’s all good now.
Thanks again
