help! UCR VS ISU

UC,riverside and Iowa state university. Major Electrical Engineering. Riverside have a Engineer rank of 63 while ISU around 40. However, ISU is located in the small town Ames, far away form cities while UCR is near LA. Please help me…

I go to Iowa State, and we’re honestly a 30 minute drive from Des Moines. And unless you want to visit the art museum or zoo or the mall every weekend, there’s plenty to do here. Most people, if they even leave campus on the weekends, go to the big mall in West Des Moines or go to concerts (among other activities) in Des Moines, Minneapolis (3 hrs), Chicago (6), Kansas City (4), St Louis (7-8), or Omaha (2-3). Des Moines gets a LOT of concerts as does Ames at the basketball arena. You won’t be rubbing elbows with the stars or anything but you’ll be guaranteed a good time. Once you go to a big sporting event here at ISU or experience the week of VEISHEA (which ends tomorrow :frowning: ), you’ll love the place. I first loved the campus and town…then the atmosphere of the place :)

And our Engineering program is great!

Well as I’m from CA, UCR gets a bad rep for being in the suburbs but really it is quite near Los Angeles and far enough away that you can get into some actual wilderness. Riverside is the best for, for example, jobs and internships with the insanely expanding real estate development market and everything that comes with that. Many electronics firms (Apple) and internet companies (MySpace) have headquarters or major campuses in a commuting distance. And compared to ISU, the weather wins hands-down. At UCR, you have the option of getting tanned and then going skiing to later join a midnight party at the beach. If you have a car. No one in their right mind comes to UCR without reliable transportation.
