To close the loop on this thread — he’s chosen Yale. While Bulldog Friday had a big impact, what truly made the difference was the nearly 4 hours he spent with a couple of current Yalies. He had only briefly spoken to them once before, through a Harvard connection of a GT friend. Despite being virtual strangers, they went out of their way spending an entire afternoon/evening to understand his goals and helped him see how Yale could support his journey. That effort and insight ultimately tipped the scales.
Congrats!! Fantastic!! I hope your S has a wonderful experience at Yale.
Thanks for letting us know.
Boola boola!!
Go to Bull Dog days and he will know. My Yalie went and never looked back. As a Yale parent I can say that their experience was transformative. The doors that were opened do not compare to GT. There is nothing like the residential college system.
This is a somewhat random aside, but we were out in California a week or two ago and riding on the airport train in SFO, we were in a car with several of the Yale crew team (I recognized the logo on their backpacks). When we got off the train and had an opportunity to chat as we walked, I asked them which residential colleges they were in. One of them in the same residential college my brother was in, and one of the others is in a residential college where a good friend of mine, who I have known for over 50 years, is currently a resident/house fellow. It was such fun to chat with them and they were so charming and personable, and will carry back the message to say “hello” from this old friend . It is such a wonderful connection that will stay forever. Congratulations again to @ravencla !
Congratulations. On that note, I’m closing the thread to prevent users from derailing the conversation. It’s unclear why some think posting denigrating a personal choice is appropriate. Several posts deleted.
