Help w/ legacy info-don't know dates/school

My Grandpa attended Northwestern in the late 1940’s while stationed there to become a pilot…he has passed away, and nobody knows what exact years he went to school there or what school he was in (though they think business). Ahh…what do I do…i know “legacy” doesn’t help much but I really wanted to put down on the app that he went there. Any suggestions-there’s not really room to explain this on the online app…

bump…should I even bother filling in the legacy section? Will they understand that both he and my grandma have passed away, and nobody else seems to know this info. I don’t wan’t them to think I’m lying or something b/c I put late 1940s instead of accurate dates…

Your family doesn’t have his diploma somewhere? You could also see if the school has records of that (i.e. contact them (don’t tell them for legacy reasons)).

he didn’t gradauate there so he doesnt have a diploma…he had to transfer but he originally attended school there while stationed at the grenview air station to get his pilot’s license… My parents think they know what time he went to school there by process of elimination, so if I put down a date and it’s wrong–will this hurt me? Would they contact me to let me explan? I don’t want to get tossed in the reject pile for a misunderstanding…

I’m 99% sure that attending, but not graduating from, a university does not count for Legacy.
