My son has been excepted to the 14 colleges he has applied to. We didnt think that would be the out come. So our problem is at this time we have till May 1st to make a decission on what school. We want the best pre-med school. But also price. Some schools have started to offer reduced tuition. Is there a way to let them know that he has been accepted to other schools. And can they offer a better tuition.

In the Financial Aid Forum there are several threads on the topic of negotiating financial aid packages. You may want to take this question there.

The standard advice for pre-med is to choose the school that will result in the least amount of student debt, so that the student doesn’t add med school debt onto a huge pile of undergraduate loans. The standard advice for asking for a “reconsideration” of a financial aid package is that this will only work if you use an aid package from an institution that the other one considers to be a peer. Some are willing to reconsider. Others aren’t.

*I live in California.
GPA 4.0
SAT 1620
ACT26

Are those your son’s stats?

I saw some of the schools that he’s applied to… a lot of OOS publics. Some might give him some merit money, but you can’t expect much in financial aid.

Can you list all of the schools and how much you feel that you can spend?
