<p>To make a long story short, spouse and I went to “look” at new cars; Volvo models. Stayed with this make since we have owned 2 previous models and have driven each 10 years so far. At any rate, went in to look at the XC90, but found it a bit large and overpowering after having driven the regular Volvo wagons for 20 years now. Spouse eyed a showroom model XC70, and since we were less than 2 hours till closing, it is the end of the month, and end of a quarter for car sales, dealer made an offer to us that was almost too good to be true. In fact, husband thought he was offering the price on another car. Long story short, we have the car, and can supposedly change our minds by turning it back in to dealer on Monday. I like the car so far, but since we had not really researched the model, am a little nervous about our hasty purchase. I have since tried to find more info on internet, but, am hoping someone on this forum might be able to offer some thoughts on this car-2007 Volvo XC70. Hope we are not making a big mistake!! Help!</p>

<p>I too just keep replacing Volvos, even tho statistically they never measure up. It sounds like you got a great value, and you know the service people and personal trust. I’m past the wagon stage, so no real help to offer. I hope you did get a nice color.</p>

<p>Update and Recovery!–As spouse of 50+ yrs and I am just shy of that 50 mark, he awakens this morning to say “Was I dreaming or did we buy a new car ?” HA! He also reminded me that at this point in our lives, we need to live a little–!! I am slowly adjusting to this impulse purchase and plan to take it out again this afternoon for reassurance purposes! And yes, am pleased with the color!</p>

<p>My husband and I are paying full freight to a very expensive college which is pretty dumb considering UVa was an option.<br>
We just tried something well…novel, innovative, ingenious. Desperate.</p>
<p>We bought a WRECKED REBUILT car. Bought at an auction. A Highlander. Saw the wreck photos. Swore it wasn’t also submerged in the waters of New Orleans. A local mechanic rebuilt it. Every once in a while it emits a sort of Templeton the Rat soured egg odor. But it looks Faabuulous. </p>
<p>Yes, the title has been changed. It used to have stamped on it Parts Only SALVAGE. Now it has a lovely stamped Rebuilt across the title just to alert the insurance companies of the lesser payout they will owe us should its karma result in a second total.</p>
<p>We like to consider this our salute to Recycling and our Al Gore moment. Oh wait, what does Al drive?</p>

<p>I went out and bought WashMom a Mazda MX-5 without even telling her I was doing it. Buying a Volvo wagon with two hours of shopping sounds way more responsible than I was. Enjoy it and stop worrying.</p>
<p>(WashMom told me this morning, “You know, to me stuff is just stuff. I’ve driven lots of cars in my life, and I don’t really care much about them. This one is different. This one made me happy.” She was diagnosed with a rare [but not likely to be fatal] form of skin cancer called DFSP the week after I gave the Mazda to her, so the timing couldn’t have been better. So. Go for it, especially if you think it is sort of irresponsible!)</p>

<p>Bought W a mini convertible to help her spirits when she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. She has since received the all clear on the cancer and still can’t get enough of her Mini…</p>

We bought a 2006 XC70 several months ago, at the end of the model year. You can get great deals then, and my H enjoys torturing car dealers until they say “uncle.” I drive the car all the time, and I’m still getting used to the “turbo factor.” Zoom! I have to be careful with my lead foot. I love Volvos, and when going to local parking lots, I drive my 1990 740GL which has 192,000+ miles on it and is still going strong. Enjoy the car! What color did you get? We got some wacky leftover color that I am getting used to-something that’s termed "lunar gold.</p>
<p>momof3–The color we got was the lunar gold! It is kind of wacky, but loved the taupe interior. Plus we decided that it would not show dirt as quickly as our white 1998 V90. Also have thought that perhaps it might be cooler (temp-wise) during the hot summer months. I am enjoying it so far as I have driven it quite a bit today and tonight. Guess that is the best way to make a final decision about it.</p>
