I really like Syracuse, because of its size, pretty campus, and that it is known to be gracious with financial aid packages. However it’s drawback is that I live in the Midwest and it is fairly far. In addition I don’t known If I could handle living somewhere so cold. I was wondering what other colleges there are like Syracuse maybe a little more south and closer. Money is a big consideration so I need somewhere generous with aid. Thank you!
South of where? Chicago O’Hare has 6 nonstops a day to Syracuse, <2 hr flying time. Syracuse is snowier than Chicago, but Chicago is colder than Syracuse. If you are saying you want to drive, you will need to be more specific on location.
What is too cold? It sounds like you are looking for mid size private universities in the southern midwest - SLU, Creighton, SMU, TCU come to mind. You might also look at Miami Ohio (public), which may offer some merit. I don’t know if Iowa or Iowa State offer merit, but those may also be “cold.”
U of Miami is the warm-weather school that I think of as being most like Syracuse; but that would be even farther if you’re in the midwest. (Could be a better selection of direct flights though.)
Have you run the Net Price Calculator for Syracuse and gotten a good result?
What do you want to major in? Can you share stats?
Butler University is worth look very generous
