My math range is 630, Writing is 580, CR is 400. I have about 20 days left. I have Barrons 2400, Writing workbook from Mcgraw and CR workbook from Barrons…I have not even started these books. I have done RR. What can i do to maximize my score in the given time? Barrons 2400, i dont think i should use because its for people who want 2200+… i want a 1900+… =s

barrons CR workbook pronto!

The PR review book gave you the main strategy to plug in your own #s for variable questions and substitute the answer choices, make sure you don’t forget that. Gruber’s is very good for math. I highly recommend that you go and buy Gruber’s right now because its main focus is math and it comes with 101 common questions. Trust me, Gruber’s will cover you for math.

For Writing, there are only a handful of rules that CB can keep testing. you need to do many practice tests(in one day, spend hours if you are determined and want a high score). You’ll learn all the mistakes, but Gruber’s also has a grammar section which will explain to you the different rules for many parts of English grammar. I definitely recommend it.

For CR, just one strategy and one strategy only can help you in these passaegs: evidence. You are the detective, and you have to look at the answer choices and realize which ones make no sense or are not mentioned in the passage at all. I usually cross out answers which I can’t find evidence in the passage. Still, 400 needs a lot of work. You need to study vocab, but your main focus is CR. Still, hard vocab is found in passages as well as the questions on the passages, and with such little time left, you can’t focus entirely on memorizing vocab. Keep practicing with the CB blue book, take the practice tests and you’ll understand what the SAT questions are like. You would be amazed at how crossing off wrong choices makes it much easier. It gets easier the more you do it. It’s easier to find wrong answers(there are 4 of them) and cross them off(with your pencil) than try and find the right one. People get CR questions wrong because they keep getting distracted by the 4 other choices.

thanks… I am not worried about math, its the english thats gonna kill me!

i took a practice test and got 570 Math, 470 in CR and 560 in Writing. I have less than 20 days. What should be my study plan in these days to maximize my score?

You have a small amount of time, so only focus on what you really must. It looks like you should devote most of your time studying CR and Writing. Keep working through your books and taking practice tests. If you have a really busy schedule, just take certain parts of a practice tests (for example, take a practice test with ONLY the critical reading sections or writing sections).
One thing that helped me a lot, was working through a single section untimed and after answering EACH question, I checked to see if I was right and if I wasn’t, I didn’t let myself move on until I understood WHY.
