Help!! What should I do?!?

I'm a sophomore at UCR. I currently have a 1.933 cumulative GPA for my first year. I am on subject to dismissal :'( I'm in big trouble because according to the financial aid requirements all students must have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA by the end of spring quarter. Well in my case, I don't (ugh! so damn close). I'm freaking out!! I email my financial aid counselor and she said that I can appeal to not discontinue my financial aid for next quarter. I don't know what reasons to write for this appeal. I mean it has to be a really good reason for them to accept my appeal...cuz if they deny it I'm screwed! :( I would have to take a lot of loans out for fall quarter and I really don't want to do that! Please help me! What should I do??

Can you retake classes over the summer?

I don't know..but I don't think so cuz that's the summer and those grades don't count in the cumulative GPA.

Summer classes at UCR do count as part of your GPA. Summer classes at a CC won't.

just write what happened your first quarter. If i remember correctly Psych 2 got to you along with other your first quarter. Just tell them to give you one more quarter and you ll hit the 2.0 target

Taking summer school wouldn't matter for her. She said she needed 2.0 by Spring.

Well, your 1.933 is definitely really close. Give them some really good reasons. If you have to tell a little white lie to get financial aid, then do it. Did your GPA for the spring quarter improve compare to your winter quarter? If yes, then use that as a point. If you had problems your first quarter, then say you had a very hard time adjusting to college, etc.

That sucks... Were you not the bio major who inquired about changing majors to psychology? Aside from offering a dazzling reason, there is really not much you can do now. If you do not mind me asking... What happened?
