Help!What should I major in?

While my main goal is to become an early chidhood teacher, I would also like to teach children all over the world. What should I major in besides early childhood eductaion? And what schools have strong study abroad programs and requirements? Thanks!

eh…broad list of majors… if you want something having to do with education/human studies, try HOD (Human Organizational Development) at Vanderbilt’s Peadbodt college. It’s said to be one of the best programs in the country for human developmental studies. It’s kinda like a cross between education and business, and is said to prepare you extremely well for dealing with people in a social setting in life after college.

Major in early childhood education, minor in international studies.

Easy. :)

Yeah, world changer is right. I work at a pretty prestigious preschool/kindergarten right now as a teacher’s aide (I know preschools can’t be “prestigious” but it’s one of the best in the state), and most of the official teachers have early childhood education degrees with a minor in something they enjoyed (classics, english, history, language).
I think we’re even going to send one of our teachers on an “exchange” to Japan.

thanks to all! Especially since Vanderbilt is one of my top choices. The only problem is I think they require you to double major in Child Studies and Early Childhood…I need to check that again.

Spelling. Reading. Writing. Arithmetic.

Concentration: basketweaving

Why was this bumped?

Kalamazoo has a great study abroad program.

To teach children all over the world, do you really have to major in education? Don’t worry so much about what major will get you the job–lots of majors will get you the job. You should see if you can get a MyRoad account on www.myroad.com. It’s great for exploring majors and careers. I recommend it to everyone! I would advise you to really think about what you want to major in and major in that. Also know that lots and lots and lots of people change their major during college, so don’t be too confident!

Well actually, majoring in Early Childhood Education is first…recently I was thinking I should combine my excitement for traveling, learning about other cultures, and helping people with my love for teaching. I’m not sure if it’s such a great idea anymore, but I am still very interested in a school with a great study broad program and education program. I’ve had a myroad account for years now :-)

Soka University requires you to spend 1 semester abroad during your Junior Year. That’s the only one in California that I know of, but it’s a TINY Liberal Arts school, so I don’t know if that’s to your taste or not.
