HELP!!! What should I write for my personal statement?

Alright, basically, I am applying to architecture graduate school (march i), but the problem is I don’t know what to write for my personal statement. Basically, I have to write something about my background and future plans with regards to architecture. However, I have neither any background in architecture nor any future plans. I don’t really have any interest in it at the moment. Just giving it a shot and see if I like it. For those who were/are in the same situation, what would you write?

Take a look at [Thought Provoking Architecutre-themed Presentations on TED](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/architecture-major/483453-thought-provoking-architecutre-themed-presentations-ted.html) for some inspiration, in particular [What is Architecture?](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/1062700017-post8.html)

You don’t have any future plans in architecture? Do you not plan on practicing after you graduate?

Also, I don’t think grad school is the place to “Just give it a shot and see if I like it.” Maybe you should think about why you want to even apply in the first place?

^ I don’t have any reason. Just experimenting.

I watched a few of the videos. They look interesting but nothing really inspirational, particularly with regards to my PS. And some of the buildings look awful … not sure how some of these guys got hired.

i agree with rdt. You might want to consider why you are considering architecture. While I was in undergrad many students dropped out the first year in the program because it was too much work and basically not what they expected. So, chances are you really want to sit down and weigh your options. Architecture is a great field and area of study if you put your time and effort into it. So, if you are just curious and end up not liking it, what are you going to do? Good luck with finding your answers, and to your future plans.

As I said, just drop out.

That’s not the way I work.

Thanks for the help so far.
