Help!!! Where could I get in with these grades/scores???

Grades 9-11 GPA: 3.33 (low, i know!)
SAT: 2080, CR-700 Math-720 Writing-660
ACT: 29
SAT II’s: Lit-700 Math 2-700 <<(just took them, so they’re guesses)
Bio AP:3
Euro. History AP:3

I have great extracurriculars, activities, clubs, volunteer work, steady job, etc.

I know my GPA puts me at a major disadvantage, but other than that, I’m clueless as to where I stand college admittance-wise.

What are some schools that would accept me? What would be a reach school?

Thanks so much!!!

What do you want to study? And which region/state do you want to be in?

**I took almost every available AP class

Volunteer Camp Counselor -175 volunteer hours
Senior Retreat Volunteer
Save Darfur Campaign coordinator
Lunch Buddies Club president (special needs)
Volunteer work with special needs children
Autism Walk Volunteer (2 yrs)
Childrens Swim Instructor at YMCA
Youth and Government active member (3 yrs), political advocate position, National Issues Commissioner
Relay for Life volunteer and coordinator (2 yrs)
and others!

Journalism, possibly…still undecided!
California would be nice, but any location really!!

SDSU? USD? UCSC? CSULB? try those. idk about journalism in there

Pace, Manhatten, Syracuse could be a high match, UMass, Boston U, University of Central Florida, Jacksonville U, University of Vermont…

I think because of your high SAT scores, your options should open up. Have you used the college matchmaker or collegeboard.com? Def check it out. Good luck!

Are you a resident of CA? Do you need financial aid?

Check out Colleges That Change Lives. There are many great schools which will be thrilled to have you.

[Colleges That Change Lives](http://www.ctcl.com/)

You could go for some of the UC’s like San Diego and Irvine. Berkeley and UCLA might be stretches though.

With your profile, you could probably gain admission to 80-90% of the colleges in this Country! We need more info to be helpful.

Take a look at the Philip Merrill School of Journalism at UMD-College Park as well. University of Missouri-Columbia has an excellent j-school too.

Your SAT CR + Math is a very impressive 1420. Nobody gives a @ht about the writing part of the SAT.

As to your GPA, it alone doesn’t communicate much. More important is your rank in your class, and even more important is the rigor of your courses. For example, in California, if you received several Bs in AP classes, those would count at 4.0 classes in computing your “weighted GPA”. It is possible your weighted GPA could be 3.7 or 3.9, something like that. I would have more respect for a 3.7 GPA with lots of AP, than 3.9 or 4.0 with average course load.

Try NYU you could probobly get into most of the schools exepct stern. NYC is a much better enviroment than cali (then again this is coming from a NY who hates cali so…)

cheers,
