Help with a problem with transfering!

Hi, so I was admited to an american university as a transfer student. I live in Peru, and I ahve studied here for one and a half years. In August I will go to the US to start classes
In general, I am very happy, I have a great FA package and have good reviews about the university, but I think I will be applying for transfer admission to some other universities.

Well, I have a big problem now. I know that I NEED to sned transcripts of all previous school work, and therefore, I need to send the transcripts of my current peruvian university. The problem is that my dad has not payed recently the bills and, as I will be going to study abroad, hw will be delaying these payments as long as he can. My current peruvian university doesn’t allow me to get any transcript or official document if am on debt, so it would not be possible to obtain the physical copies of the grade reports.

What should I do? Asking my father to pay all the bills for this university NOW is almost out of the question. He is making a great effort so that I can go to study abroad without finantial problems and it would not be possible for him to make other big payments. I know that this would be the right thing to do, but the truth is m father doesn’t have the money too…
I have already written to the universities I am interested to find out about their admission procedure and if they need these reports. They all do, as expected, some need them to be mailed directly and other just need them to be electronically submited. My concern is that the school officials at my current university will not be likely to submit the reports onine when they find out I am on debt.

I don’t think that you can give me much help, but any comment will be appreciated.
I was even thinking on telling the universities I apply to about this situation, but I am not so sure about that. I was also thinking on telling the american university I will attend to to send their school report along wiht my previous grades from the peruvian university since I send them my college report (a few months ago, when I had no debts).

Thanks!

I think you need to have a very frank discussion with your dad about what is affordable and what isn’t. And then you need to make some hard decisions; the truth of the matter is, your dad is extended beyond his means trying to provide you with all these opportunities. Between paying for your current school, studying abroad and transferring to a US college, the first has to be the top priority as it is something you have legally stated you would do. The other two are nice, but not necessary.

Not a very good idea IMO as most (all?) US colleges have the same rule, if you owe them money, you can’t take more classes or have transcripts sent. So I don’t think they’re going to be very sympathetic to your situation.
