Help with Business Major

Ok, so my dad owns a Food Distributing company in Chicago and it is worldwide. My parents want me to take over the company when they retire.

I’m confused on what Business majors I need to take.

General Management?
Marketing?
etc…

It sounds like a supply chain management emphasis would make sense for you, seeing as your dad’s company works in food distribution. I don’t know many specific universities that offer a program in it, but I imagine that it wouldn’t be too hard to find.

[Supply Chain Mgmt. » Undergraduate Programs » Department of Business Administration](http://www.business.illinois.edu/ba/programs/ugrad/supply-chain/)
[APICS The Association for Operations Management](Association for Supply Chain Management - ASCM)

Two others in Illinois offer International Business as well, Illinois State and Loyola University. Your undergrad will give you a little bit of management, marketing, accounting, economics. From there you might choose what concentration to add. I second the UIUC supply chain management suggestion also. Will you be working in the business while attending school? Some universities work with apprentice experiential learning better than others. Schools like DePaul in Chicago really encourage synthesizing your family business work experience into the classroom activities and writing. DePaul even has confidentiality agreements on content from students.
