Help with college list!

Here are my credentials:
GPA- about 3.7
SAT- 690 CR / 660 Math / 750 Writing
Courseload- toughest available courses available (my school offers no honors courses because of the student body of roughly 100)
Athletics-
Ski racing: all year round, Junior Olympian, top 40 in nation in 3 events, 24/7 commitment.
Lacrosse: 3 seasons of varsity (will be 4), leading scorer, multiple awards
Soccer: 3 years of varsity (will be 4)
Extracurricular- newspaper writer/editor, debate, working 40 hours a week in the summer since i was 14 (should be noted that my school is a winter sports academy and offers little to no extracurriculars, i have maxed out my involvement in my environment)
Comm. Service- working at an elderly hospital, habitat for humanity, working at a homeless shelter and tutoring underprivileged children, helping out locally on an organic farm.

*my school is unique in not being able to offer any honors courses, but students are regularly accepted as athletes and as students at some of the best schools in the country like dartmouth, brown, and harvard. i believe my advantage in applying to college is that i have pursued a passion to the fullest extent, focusing on it completely, something most kids look past while too interested in padding their applications with meaningless activities.

here are some schools i’m considering so far- just looking for some opinions. i’m also looking to find some schools other than these. thanks

Dartmouth
Middlebury
Williams
U. of Denver
U. of Michigan Ann Arbor
Harvard
BC
American U.
UVA
UMD College Park
Washington & Lee
Tufts
Georgetown
Duke (mother is alumnus)
Vanderbilt
Wake Forest
U. Richmond

do you play for a top HS lax team in CT (Darien, New Canaan, Fairfield Prep, Branford, Wilton, Ridgefield, Cheshire or others)? because then you will almost certainly be recruited by Ivies. Assuming you wont play d1, here is what I think of your chances

Dartmouth- reach
Middlebury- reach
Williams- reach
U. of Denver- dont know much about it, but id say youre in
U. of Michigan Ann Arbor- match
Harvard- reach
BC- match
American U.- safety
UVA- slight reach (OOS)
UMD College Park- safe match
Washington & Lee- match
Tufts- slight reach
Georgetown- slight reach
Duke (mother is alumnus)- slight reach (closer to match b/c of legacy)
Vanderbilt- match/slight reach
Wake Forest- safe match/match
U. Richmond- match

why not aply to amherst!

We need to know class rank.

It would seem you could be a recruited skiier. If yes, this would make all the schools possible, especially if you raise your SATs a bit.

If you’re not recruited, I think you have a lot of huge reaches. Your scores make any ivy level school unlikely and even Duke hard as a legacy unless your family gives big $$ because that really works at Duke.

Your scores are very low for top schools and CT is an over represented state.

answers to questions-

 1. my school does not rank due to the disadvantage it would present in such a small student body.
 2. I attend school and play lacrosse and soccer in vermont, not connecticut. i ski race all over the country and sometimes in europe

thanks

could you get recruited for skiing? i know some schools have varsity programs, i would think this would be big in the NESCAC

Colleges “guess” a rank for everyone. Contact the ski coaches, they’ll tell you if you have the times to be recruited.

The University of Southern California seems like a match for you!

yes, i could get recruited at some schools…i’m just not sure that’s what i want to do in college which is why i am keeping my options open well outside of varsity skiing schools
