Hi! So, on Bowdoin’s International Financial Aid page it mentions that applicants should file the CSS profile. I was trying to fill out the CSS Profile for Bowdoin but it says that it only accepts the CSS profile from entering students for international undergraduate applications. I checked out some other colleges I’m applying to such as Lake Forest and Bryn Mawr and it mentions the same thing for international undergraduate applicants: “accepts from entering students only”. But for other colleges like Amherst, it doesn’t say anything like that. So, I got really confused. What exactly does this mean? Do I have to be accepted and offered admission to file the CSS profile for these colleges? Please help
It does not matter what another school says.
You much follow the directions that** each individual school requires.**
If you apply to 7 different schools and each school requires something different to get their money, then you turn in 7 different set of forms.
Amherst is the only school on your list that is need blindto international students. At all of the other schools if you don’t apply for aid now as part of the admissions process, you cannot get aid later regardless of your situation.
Amherst will let you apply for aid later. However, if you need aid to attend Amherst this fall, file your paperwork and file it on time.
If you will be enrolling at a college…you ARE an “entering student”?
What is your confusion? Just do the Profile…and submit it to the schools that list it as a requirement for international students.
“entering student” means you, the applicant, who hopes to start college Fall 2018.
Oh okay. Thank you everyone. Sorry if it was a stupid question. I just got really confused.
I have the same issue as well, and I’m not sure what’s the distinction between “Accepts” and “Accepts entering students only” mean in selecting the colleges for the CSS Profile to be submitted. According to previous answers, does t"Accepts entering students only" mean that ONLY the students who WILL enroll at their schools are eligible to submit? Like they only accept submissions from students who are guaranteed admission? Or does it mean you can only submit the CSS profile after you have submitted the common application?
I’m not very keen on this, so pardon if this question is tedious, but I really do not see the distinction.
Submit the Profile to the schools to which you apply. There is a deadline to do so. Look on a house college for that deadline…and submit your Profile by that date.
You do NOT wait until you are accepted.
Just get it done and submitted by the deadline. If you don’t do that…you won’t be receiving need based institutional financial aid if you get accepted.
