I really want to write an original and personal essay, but I’m afraid it might compromise the quality of the reflection or the overall essay. Anyway, these are my possible essay ideas so far:

Last year, one of my 7th grade teachers died in which he left his two children. He was one of the nicest teachers I’ve ever had and he was almost smiling and laughing when he taught me. I had never seen him mad or angry once. I want to talk about how his death affected me not just in a mournful/negative way, but in a way that taught me things like (I’m not too sure about the following reflecting part yet) to always keep close relationships and that role models are not lost even through death. I also think this idea would in the most way make a more personal and unique essay, but I’m not sure if I can make it come across in a good enough way. Do you have any ideas on this?

I could also write about how my passion for playing violin was ignited by watching my brother play, how I began playing at age 5, and how I still love it now and am continuously and actively involved in my school orchestra and quartet program. Although this topic might not be as unique as the first, I think I could really portray characteristics of dedication, talent, and personal interest. Would it be too cliched?

My last option is to write about how I restarted/re-established a school club when I saw that it was dead. The club had over high school 20 members its first year under my lead and we’re shooting for over 35 this coming year. I could talk about my leadership and responsibility and my interest in the club’s purpose.

Thanks for the help
