Help With Essays Needed

For my 3 essays, I was going to have one be on a person who has influenced my life, another on the accomplishment I value most, and the 500 one on an issue rather than talking about myself. My optional one was going to be on my Boys State experience. Is this fine (one of the prompts stated that I could write about anything I wanted), or should I concentrate on myself for the largest essay?

I was also wondering if anyone would be willing to read my essays and critique them. I am applying ED, so I am in a bit of a scramble to get them edited (I want to have time to rewrite them if necessary). I would greatly appreciate any help.

I think you should write about yourself rather than an issue. They're looking to see who you are, and sometimes it's hard to reflect that in talking about some other topic/issue. Best to just keep it personal.

Precisely. However, if you can take that issue and personalize it, that would be awesome. Most of all, however, it needs to be about you.

Be careful if you write about someone who's influenced you. The big mistake that nearly everybody makes in writing that kind of essay is that they focus too much on the person they admire. You have to show how that person influenced YOU. Don't make it a biography on another person.

Is there anyone willing to critique my essay? Its more than 600 words, but I don't know what to take out. If you are willing, please let me know! Thanks a lot.

I would be more than willing to critique your essay send it to Good Luck with your application!

Would you mind to critique mine, too?

Sure!! :-D

Silmon77, you're right in not posting the essay on the board...not that anyone would copy, but it's not a risk worth taking.
