help with grammar summa cum laude

How is this supposed to be worded?

“Billy graduated Summa Cum Laude (capitalized?) from Fancy University with a Bachelor’s (apostrophed?) degree in Underwater Basketweaving.”

or

“Billy graduated from Fancy University summa cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in…”

Thanks for the help.

Lowercase! The first option is correct. This is because the words summa cum laude (with greatest praise/honor) are not proper nouns. These words are just common words in the English language, and therefore would technically be incorrect is capitalized. But, in worst case scenario, it should be consistent with the rest of the diploma/document.
