Help with making my application better?

<p>Ok,so in a few weeks im going to start applying. I want to go to Michigan State, freshman average GPA of 3-4-3.8 along with average act score of 22-27.
I go to a hard private college prep high school with a terrible grading scale (93% is still a B+) so I have a 2.7- with a 25 on the ACT.
I probably have closer to a 3.0 since i had a D in religion two years and they won’t count that when I apply. They will take into account that i go to one of the hardest high schools in michigan but i still dont know.
I am kind of involved, i did alot freshman year but got a job sophmore year so I didnt do as much.I went to one private school freshman year and had a 3 point and they closed, so I transferred to a harder school. </p>

<p>My dad went there and my cousin goes there so that should help.
I am qualified everywhere EXCEPT the GPA…i mean my high school is all about “preparing you for college” but when you get a 84% on a test and its still a C+ its kinda hard to go places, especially since thats a B at a public school and if you add in the fact that the curriculum is harder it could be close to an A…
But does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to make them consider me?</p>

<p>Also, when would be a good time to apply, im thinking early as possible wont be goof because they would say: ACT yes, gpa no, ec yes. “We had 23,000 applicants last year and accept 72%and im sure we will have alot this year so reject.” but if i apply like in the middle they might think"we have some openings so yes"</p>

<p>btw how do you edit a topic? I can edit this response but not my topic</p>

<p>although i do sympathize with your harsh grading system, you will have few excuses when it comes to standardized tests such as the ACT, and while you do have an ok score, it doesn’t exactly reflect that well on your school’s “college prep”, which in turn would make adcoms raise their eyebrows at your gpa. on the issue of applying early, the general consensus is that the over-qualified applicants/legacies tend to be proportionately greater in the “early pool”. best of luck to you</p>
