Help with Math

I was originally majoring in economics so I am taking Math 16A this semester (Spring 2012). However, I recently found out about the ORMS major (operations research and management systems) and I am really interested in applying. However, the pre-reqs state that I need

Math 1A Calculus (4 units)
Math 1B Calculus (4)
Math 53 Multivariable Calculus (4)
Math 54 Linear Algebra and Diff’l Eqns (4)
Engin. 7 Intro. to Computer Programming (4)
Bus. Admin. 10 Principles of Business (3)
Econ 1, 2, or 3 Intro. To Economics (4)

I already ruled out econ and UGBA, but I need math 1A, IB, 53, and 54 . I can’t take e7 until I finish of math 1A. However, I need to apply during sophomore year. What should I do? can I take 1A and 1B concurrently Fall 2012 and 53 and 54 Spring 2013? (though i feel that this would be stupid…) Are there any tests I can take to test out of 1A/1B even though APs already passed? or am i screwed? I’m willing to put forth effort, I just really want to declare the major!

I wouldn’t take differential and integral calculus at the same time. Integral calculus should be built upon after exploring differential calculus. After completing those you can really split off into multivariable, diff eq, or linear alg in any order or simultaneously. But if you already know basic calculus it wouldn’t be a problem to do both at the same time.

also consider taking one of the math classes during summer - not sure if you can still get into a section, but that is an option to move forward when a class is part of a sequence of requirements that are a limiting path toward some goal you have.

1A, or AP calculus credit, is a prerequisite for 1B.

However, you can take 53 and 54 simultaneously after completing 1B.

If you have AP calculus credit, why are you taking 16A?
