Male
SAT: 2390

Need a little advice with my list, I intend on definitly applying for the following:

Harvard
Yale
Princeton
Duke
Columbia
Stanford

I feel they are right for me and see no reason why not to give them a shot, however I would like some more backup colleges which would give me a much higher chance of admission.

Basically I’m looking for some safeties - public or private. Any ideas?

You need to give more info than that. Given that your list so far is a bit scattered (besides the evident prestige factor), I don’t think we’d have anything to go off of.

What state are you from or are you an intl student? Any preferences to programs they should have? Want to play a particular sport or are you interested in a particular area of study (which may change, of course)? Financial limitations? School size? Diversity? What’s your rank, GPA? ECs?

Gender and SAT really aren’t enough to go on. Maybe try some college search engines based on your preferences or go into more depth along the lines of what Optimization was talking about.

In your situation, I would recommend the counselor-o-matic program on the Princeto Review website. If nothing else, it will help narrow down some of the other variables in what you want in a college.

Yeah, uhh SAT and gender doesnt tell us shiit.

All those schools are completely different from each other. Why are you applying to all of them? Other than the fact that they have great academics and prestige, they have VERY LITTLE in common. And at the same time, we can’t offer any suggestions because you have no sort of type of college you are really applying to, other than the fact that it is top 10 USWNR

I agree. these are SO different.

Brown and Dartmouth are much more like Duke, Stanford and Princeton than Columbia is.

Read it over. Maybe even twice, because you need a BIG wakeup call.

Don’t apply to colleges based on prestige alone! If you do, there’s a big chance that you won’t be satisfied with your decision. APPLY TO THE SCHOOL THAT FITS YOU.
