Hi, I’m a junior at a decent public school in Chicago (ranked 12th in the state). I’ve done all honors and am I have 2 ap and 2 ib classes this year (not allowed to take until junior year). I plan on taking 5 Ap classes next year. I’m not sure what schools to apply to beyond UIUC, depaul, and Loyola.
African American
Female
GPA: 3.0 UW, 3.7 not counting freshman year, 3.5-3.6 UC GPA (not entirely sure)
ACT: 32 (should I retake it? I know I can do better; I didn’t take it as seriously as I should have).
ECs: nothing extremely eye-popping. In several clubs, co-founder of a club, a few college classes in community college (all As), 80-100 community service hours at the Adler planetarium, paws, and a nursing home. I tutor kids for free, I also worked as a camp counselor for a summer, I’ve been taking care of my grandma with Alzheimer’s for 6 years.
I was living with my dad until sophomore year and he had no income for a while and my brother went off to college, so I had to take care of her by myself. I live with my mom now (income of 200k+) and we were recently able to put my grandma in a nursing home!
I’d prefer schools in state or schools in California or the east coast (specifically New York, but not a must).
Also, do I even have a chance at a school like Urbana or Loyola ?
Sorry for any errors in my grammar or spelling, I’m on my phone.
Thanks to anyone that can help
